I understand that Project Red is a new franchise, which Super Sentai was retroactively made a part of, since their main characters also wear red (Zenkaiger felt even more out of place than before). And that's probably why Gavan was chosen as the hero, since he has a similar story. The Space Sheriffs franchise existed before the name Metal Heroes was officially introduced. So, in a sense, history is repeating itself.
Regarding the glowing red body, I understand that Havana's updated, familiar design will be supplemented with glowing red stripes, like Zeztz's base form. Ultimately, Toei doesn't want him confused with Sharivan.
So, now I'm tormented by another thought: when will a modern version of Zubat appear in Project Red? Especially since he's already red.
