The idea of a scifi hero being more religious than average is interesting, but I might be reading too much into it.

The notion I'm getting is that it's more of a metaphor. Otentosama is supposed to refer to Amaterasu, the big-time sun deity in Japanese culture. My take is that Reiji says it to metaphorically express something along the lines of "Don't disturb the peace!" or "Don't mess with the order of things!", and it makes sense if that's the case since he's technically a police officer who happens to hop around dimensions and wears red plated armor to uphold the law.
That said, here me out. I wonder if the color schemes have something to do them being a representation of the planets of the solar system. Not 100% certain myself, but just throwing it out there since the Amaterasu stuff has been brought up.
Gavan Infinity > Sun
Gavan Bushido > Mercury
Gavan Luminous > Venus
Death Gavan > Pluto, maybe?
Or maybe:
Gavan Infinity > Sun
Gavan Bushido > Moon
Gavan Luminous > stars
Death Gavan > black hole
Again, just throwing it out there.
