Ok, now that Gavan is 5 episodes in, I think I got a good grasp on the show.

And that grasp is that it desperately needs twoparters.

The show feels boxed in, and until now, pretty much every episode is undercut by how little they can actually explore the concept, making it feel rushed and ultimately end up far less satisfying than it really should be.

Even this episode just rushes through plot points to get to a conclusion, and I like the broad strokes, but the details all end up underwhelming.

Last week was probably the biggest offender. Ameise‘s partner was the emotional core of the episode, and her resolution is incredibly weak and not even funny Ant-Gavan can fix that.

I really wanna like this show, but right now, either the format they are working in doesn’t fit the show, or the show doesn’t fit the format, which makes it incredibly middling for me at this point.
