Final Act

It's funny, seeing this now that I have alot more tokusatsu under my belt.

The best way I can think to describe the ending of PGSM without fully giving things away, is that it's like an alternate take on the ending of Kamen Rider Zi-O.

And while I definitely like this ending more than the one in Zi-O, it still has some pains to it that I find hard to ignore. Past me, who was totally in love with this ending, is rather disappointed, I'm sure.

I will say upfront that for what the ending is, it is rather ambitious, as it's not the sort of thing you'd expect to see in a show like this. But the finer details really do drag it down some. Like, for example, how the heck did the painting that was draining Darien's' life force survive the explosion?

But, things like that aside, I really do respect this ending for being as daring as it is, and, emotionally, it really works for the type of show that Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon ended up being. So I really can't blame past me or really anyone else who ends up being totally into it. It really does end up bringing the message home that love and friendship can overcome damn near anything.

And that's a message that I can always get behind, especially if it's executed in any sort of coherent capacity.
