Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters Episodes 169-172: Fighting for a Friend

This is straight up a tokusatsu fight. No notes.

Half jokes aside, if there's one thing I can for sure give this arc of Yu-Gi-Oh, it's that every duel is memorable for one reason or another.

And the Joey vs Valon duel is for sure no exception, what with the two gradually building up to the point that they both start actually punching the life points out of one another.

The emotional backing behind it is great too, what with both of them dueling for the sake of the same person; Just going about it at different angles. Not to mention the ongoing surrounding plot with the rest of the group. I start invested in everything going on, and I stay that way.

Because really, with the duel itself being as inherently cool as it is, cutting anyway to anything else could easily be a pretty big detriment. Thankfully, we've got great highlights like Kaiba overpaying for a car and the friendship drama with the others to keep the flow going, and never once making me feel disappointed. Also the humor is on point whenever it shows up.

It's just a fun set of episodes that further contribute to an already great arc.
