Sailor Moon The Super Live

I was originally going to post this on April Fool's Day, but I ended up not having the spare time for this until now, so here we are.

And don't take that to mean that my covering of this is any sort of joke, because to my surprise, I actually had alot of fun with this! I went in expecting something akin to the Kamen Rider stage shows, but got an awesome musical instead.

The story is essentially a speedrun of the Dark Kingdom arc, with this one surprisingly taking elements from both the anime and the live-action adaptation, while also offering its own spin on things. And it all comes together in a way that I don't think would upset anyone who's a fan of the franchise.

Every song is good in its own right, with the singers all putting in work to bring the lyrics and emotions together. I especially loved Beryl here, who has some deep opera tones that really appeal to me. But I have to especially give a big shout out to whoever composed the instrumentals during the non-singing scenes, because they all sound incredibly good and wouldn't be out of place in a movie.

The dancing and especially the light shows are really fun to watch too. Not just in terms of choreography, but creativity. For example, there's a song where, during a flashback, the Guardians use some big glow sticks as weapons, and towards the end they stick them into the stage. These same rods then become part of the light show for the songs that come after, and I thought that was such a creative idea for something like this.

All in all, it's just a really fun time, and I highly recommend it.
