Part of it is that I really don?t like Wes in this one. His angst at his dad just comes off as belated teen angst given that all of his complaints are relayed to us rather than actually shown off, with said dad still not coming off as the rich bastard the show tries to paint him as, either in the dialogue they give him or the actor?s performance.

Well let's see, counting only what we've "seen" up to now, including in this very episode, Mr. Collins has:

• Literally funded weapons of mass destruction
• Was willing to let a group of children die because it would've cost him money he was already willing to spend
• Tries to control every aspect of his son's' life(even so much as talking about planning Wes' future for him).
• Does everything in the name of business, even telling Wes to become leader of the Silver Guardians at the end of the episode literally just as a business venture.
• Makes literally no attempt to hear Wes' side and brushes whatever he says off as nonsense.
• Literally drove up to Wes in the middle of Wes' job just to belittle him.
• Oh and, of course, created a private defense force solely for protecting those who have money, in a bid to gain further money.

Wes, meanwhile, has not only consistently come around on his own mistakes, ever since episode 2, but continues to stretch his hand out to those in need. Heck, in this very episode, while he expresses disappointment in the Silver Guardians being a business and not a public service, he still shows concern for the soldiers, to the point of literally taking a bullet for one of them. Heck, even when Eric is being a standoffish prick, Wes still attempts to meet him with kindness, both in the present and in flashback.

But, at its core, it's the classic tale of a controlling and overbearing parent clashing with a child that wants even just the smallest amount of freedom, and in that regard, I think the episode portrayed it pretty well. And this is ontop of introducing Eric into the mix, which begins the Dante and Vergil dynamic between Wes and Eric.

And one thing I can definitely appreciate is the proper use and maintaining of atmosphere throughout this one. There's no sudden comedy flying in out of nowhere to ruin the mood ala the MCU. The majority of the episode is about conflicts of interest amongst friends and family, and it stays focused on the drama inherent to that the entire way through.

So yeah, rather liked this one.
