Sorry, I meant the island trilogy, not the Minilla trilogy. I hated those. Almost as bad as I hate Megalon and Hedorah. Ghidorah TTHM is probably my favorite of the entire Showa era because it was able to give us great monster battles mixed with an excellent human story, and normally, I just write off the human story 90% of the time. That's really why I felt like everything beyond that was lacking in the Showa era. Yeah, you could say the Heisei movies did not have the best human stories either, but they had complete continuity to them.

I won't argue that for Mothra and Ghidorah, as I do think the Showa designs for better for their premier, but there was a huge difference with the others. Yeah, Moguera could go either way, but SpaceGodzilla and Destoroyah were awesome looking. It's just a shame that the SpaceGodzilla movie was utter crap.

They may have been a lot of beam battles, but they were kept more grounded in reality. You did not see Godzilla using his breath to fly. He was not jumping up and down like an idiot when he beat Ghidorah. He was not doing jump kicks, suplexes, and the like as he did in the later Showa movies. Plus, Rodan did not have something that looked like a clothes pin stuck to his beak in every other shot.
