[Switchblade]

Just watched it. Still not a fan of the Space Sheriffs.

I'm pretty much with Megabattimus on this one: the first 45 minutes were pretty dull but the minute Kenji Ohba shows up everything really turns around. Honestly, I think it was a bad idea to make the new Gavan; they should have just let Ohba carry the full movie (maybe bring back Hiroshi Watari as Sharivan, too). He clearly can still do all of the action work and he has a lot more charisma than Ishigaki - plus they could probably find a uniform coat that actually fit him (Geki's too-long sleeves bugged the hell out of me). Aside from the cute girl who played Itsuki, Geki really didn't bring much to the film for me.

Other notes:

Not sure if Shelly has worse fashion sense than Shunpei, but she's damn close.

Sharivan and Shaider's cameos were too brief. Considering the talent that was playing them, they should have had much bigger roles.

If I ever become the chief of an intergalactic police force, I will also hire former porn stars as my secretaries.

Hey, Brighton-sama? Gorgom called, they want their headquarters back.

Between the easily flexible "metal" and fabric-covered "rocks" there was a lot of mediocre design implementation in this movie.

Gavan still has one of the most badass theme songs ever.
