I think I was just led to believe these things would blow my mind with their range of motion... except I had already purchased other high-end Bandai Japan figures with the same, or better range of movement.

I never said they were unposable, just I guess I expected this greta thing, only to unwittingly have "spoiled the surprise" already.

Oh, Play Arts Kai have the worst knee joints I've ever seen. I personally think PAK are supremely over-hyped and over-priced figures that remind me of a poor man's SIC.

And the drop-hinge Figuarts hip joint is still bad.

What if you just want to pose the figure with it's legs slightly apart, say to balance because the ankles are loose as hell? Literally unless the figure is sitting (something the hips can't do very well) or standing straight with the gaps completely closed the hips just don't look right. I actually prefer more toy-looking hip joints (like on Agito, who I'd like to get were it not for his sad accessory count) because they aren't so... glaringly awkward. And that's really why I don't like them. It's like someone took a straight-legged statue, cut the legs off at weird angles, and glued them back on in weird ways. It's so unatural and inorganic, even beyond your typical toy joint. I mean, the super-exposed elbow joints don't bug me. It's almost like in trying to find a solution to jointy-looking hips they made them even more distracting.

Really? You don't see how the line of the thigh going straight into the belt with gaps all around looks fine?

As I said, and will probably say again since I'm thinking you guys may not realise this, I don't dislike Figuarts at all (If I did I wouldn't be here. I have a list of "when I get around to it" Figuarts of Den-O and Agito etc.) or think they're not good, and I'd still probably buy one in the future if I couldn't find a certain Rider in another format, I just don't find them so maddeningly addictive dude to problems that I can't ignore. Even looking at the "best" I only think "yeah that's cool."
