Well, for a first episode, it established that Blue and Yellow, despite receiving constant training and being overall combat ready, are vastly inferior to Red, who could do more to the enemy in 5 shots then the two could do in 3 minutes with the same weapons.
Nothing made sense, the concept of why the rangers were "Special" and the Buddyroids had no explanation whatsoever, only 2 characters were actually introduced, the Engrish was more forced than funny, and the fighting was a bit too wire fu for now.

HOWEVER, it's only the first episode, so I'm more willing to change my opinion as the series goes on. I'll also admit that some of the action was cool, the zord battle was neat, and the lack of a stock morphing sequence was a nice change of pace. But as a first episode goes, I was just bored and confused.
