OK here's where it gets complicated. place yourself in Zhanes shoes, your one of the few chosen to protect the universe, and you watch your world die around you...and then you die. imagine what that does to a persons mind. but he continued to fight the good fight. however after C2D he walked away, the Astro Megaship and the Silver Morpher were given to Earth for research, which is how Lightspeed was able to construct Rangers and Zords of thier own. The silver morpher was eventually rebuilt into the Titanium Morpher. (remember that the Silver Ranger was the Strongest Ranger...and not everyone could wear the Titanium Morpher)

Even if over the 10,000 years he and Zordon fought, he were to be defeated then he could still just assume a new host. 3,000 years ago that happened on Mirinoi. This is why an entire planet seems to be only inhabited by a small group in the immediate vicinity of the Sabers.aside from thier previous use, they were used to drive off Zedd, and then placed in an area which protected the planets survivors.
