The word "carnival" comes from the Latin root
carn
, which means flesh. A carnivore is a flesh-eater. During the 40 days of Lent in (I believe) medieval Europe (probably Spain), people would abstain from eating meat, since the general population loved meat. The day before Lent, however, they would hold a festival in which there was bountiful meat. The name of this festival meant, "Farewell to meat." What was this name?
Carnivale, or Carnival.
In one process of fossilization, years of compression by sediment layers leads to a dead organism buried in those layers to have its organic material (usually its bones) replaced by minerals. However, before this process of mineral replacement, the organism decomposes to a skeleton. In other words, it loses its meat.
So, again class- why would I find it awesome if KyoryuRed Carnival fossilized enemies? Because "carnival" means "farewell to meat."
Also, I must edit my earlier statement, since there is a difference between a theory and a hypothesis. A theory is an explanation for a natural phenomenon that is supported by evidence and largely accepted by the scientific community. A hypothesis is just a guess.
