I never quite understood where the Nintendo mentality came from.

Link shows up?
"It's the same Zelda game they've been making for the past 20 years."

Samus shows up?
"It's the same Metroid game they've been making for the past 20 years."

And it's an inescapable cycle of annoyance that gets tossed around because the characters are the same.

Bethesda makes Morrowind with better graphics and a new enemy?
Praise the gods upon high.
Retro Studios completely changes how Metroid is played?
"It's the same game we've been playing for 20 years."

I never understood where this came from, and it's an unfair assessment when it comes to, say, Mario, who has starred in various different genres of games, so, unless it's an FPS, all his games will just be called "A copy of a prior Mario game."

I know I probably missed the entire point of the thread, but I'm just tired of "LINK'S FACE SHOWED UP IT'S JUST OCARINA AGAIN."
