The kits have more detail and are cheaper(if we're talking 1/144 scale), and even so, the MG kits are closer in price to RD's but you get way more bang for your buck.

I understand the price differences though, I forgot if I explained it here or elsewhere but it has much to do with labor. Bandai has to pay the factory workers for their labor in putting together RD's and painting them, whereas for plamo kits, all that labor to put together and paint the kit are on you.

Ultimately, the kits will almost always look more detailed, more accurate, and more aesthetically pleasing. So for display they will win out. For posing and play, the RD's usually win. Different crowds though, Gundam rose to popularity and was saved due to plamo, so plamo is never going away from Gundam it will always be its lifeblood.

They're the same in that they have swapable hands and are articulated 6" ish figures. But of the ones I've handled I think I'd be much happier with a 1/144 kit of the same thing. The only exceptions I can think of are suits that either don't have 1/144 kits, or do, but they're stupid rare resin kits.

Despite my understanding of labor costs involved for RD's, I still think you get more bang for your buck with a plamo.
