That is totally 100% different and I can't believe you used that as analogy. For starters, those movies are created, produced, etc., before you give a single cent to the movie. Michael Bay doesn't come to your message board and ask you to contribute anywhere from $1 to $2,500 with a promise of "you won't be disappointed, I know what I'm doing".

MMPR's budget is being provided BY YOU. YOU are paying for it before production even BEGINS. You have NO say in what happens but you're paying for the whole project. But they promise that you won't be disappointed. I mean, they have Ron Wasserman, and Robert Axelrod, and David Fielding. And Lord Zedd's staff. See? That's why this will be great. That is what they're selling you on - not the movie they want you to pay for, but by the people who have been gratious enough to probably do this FOR FREE for the fans in a misguided project that was sold to them as "we're doing this for the fans!" when it's actually "I'm hoping this will jumpstart my career and I'm using you to use the fans to skyrocket my popularity, which I've stated in an E-mail!"

You don't have to see Michael Bay's Transformers films. You choose to see them or not. And when/if you do, that's when you provide them with $$ which helps them prove that it was either a) worth it or b) not worth it.

There's no effort other than people shining light on the fans that are too blinded by "OMG RON WASSERMAN DAVID FIELDING ROBERT AXELROD MMPR THEY RELEASED A TRAILER WITH CONTINUITY INCLUDED IN IT OMG" to realize that they're simply being taken advantage of - their nostalgia and their pocketbook is all this "director" wants.
