I thought it went downhill around episode 2

. There are some intersparsed good episodes but on the whole the first half of the show felt pretty flat, formulaic, and unoriginal until Beet and Stag appeared. Their appearance gave a it a brief jolt of life before it went back to the more episodic approach. Specifically episode 27 is where the real plot picks up.
