Flynn may have always wanted to be a hero, but TJ is different. He saw a burning truck and immediately rushed to help. He saw a woman being attacked by the foot soldiers and, once again, ran to save her (That woman turning out to be Kat). He continues on and eventually comes to save Tommy from some kind of pit of darkness, despite protests from Kat and Cassie to not get involved.
And this was all before he gained powers or even knew these people were the Power Rangers.

For Flynn, he just wanted to be a hero. For TJ, being a hero was second nature.

wow...beautifully put makes me even more sure TJ is the best choice for the job. His friend and person say not to get involved but his instinct to be a hero overcame and before knowing anything about these strangers he helped
