First of all: Dr Kain? You're going to hate this one.

I liked it, though. It's pretty much a Rian focus episode and we get to see a bit of her backstory and what drives her as a character. She's kind of a shallow bitch, but she has a heart of gold.

Well, I say gold; it's more like gold-plated.

Well, I say gold-plated; it's more like pyrite.

That said, I'm still volunteering.





(I'm not just being filthy-minded; that's exactly where Rian goes with it, too)

But yeah, there's some fun stuff here with Rian and Ryuga, including what cannot be anything but a Kamen Rider W nod. The Horror of the week is suitably creepy and clearly has been playing a lot of Vice in King of Fighters, although she doesn't have a monster form and, in true Dr Kain-pleasing style, the Garo armor appears for all of ten seconds to kill her.

At this point I figure the show either has a significantly lower budget than Makai Senki or they are funneling most of it into a few select episodes for maximum effect (like the battle with Sonshi a couple weeks back).

There's some subplot stuff with Takeru and Rui again. I'm starting to wonder if she's going to be a Horror, too, considering how much they keep dwelling on this plot. And Aguri appears for one scene and then leaves. It's not that much different than if he were actually in most of the episode.
