It's not that the music and effects weren't there, it's just that they were so quiet you could barely hear them over the dialog. Locke, you might not say it doesn't make a difference, but for me, it does. I am an audiophile. Music and sound effects can make or break something for me. If it has music that does not fit the scene, or no music at all, I have a hard time getting into it. It's also one of the reasons I consider Samurai Jack to be one of the top 10 greatest American cartoons of all time. That show was just amazing in what it did in sound design.

I'm not saying that that makes it okay but coming into an American show expecting all the gore, swearing and general adult content from a Japanese show is just a fool's errand from the beginning.

I'm not expecting it to have gore and stuff, I just want it to not feel like a cop out. Had it been well written, I might have felt it worked. However, it was not, so it did not work for me. They were using the term vented and making it sound like that was it. Having it turn out to just be a hospital was lame and makes the threat of doom pointless. Pretty much it meant any rider was immortal because if they got hurt, they would just go to the hospital to recover. There was no death involved EVER.
