When the evil sorceress, Rita Repulsa, escapes from her dumpster on the moon, five teenagers with attitude are selected by intergalatic being Zordon to become the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. Kimberly Ann Hart, played by Amy Jo Johnson, was the franchise's first Pink Ranger and harnessed the power of the pteradactyl.

The character of Kimberly seems to have been originally cast to come across as a "valley-girl" type personality - shallow, vain, and speak with a heavy dose of "like". And in the first handful of episodes, that personality trait is present, but by the time Kimberly Hart was written off the show, she had become the sweet, family-oriented selfless girl that became a hero and inspiration to many younger female fans of the show.

Kimberly Hart is often remembered because of the budding romance with the Green Ranger and White Ranger Tommy Oliver (played by Jason David Frank). The two would share the only on-screen kiss in Power Rangers history (okay, two lip-locked kisses).

Amy Jo Johnson would star in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie, and receive new ninja powers and the Crane Zord. The movie would, for the most part, be ignored by the television series and adapt a different origin for the new zords, new enemies, and of course, that awesome ninja suit!

During the mid-point of the third season of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, Amy Jo Johnson asked to be written out of the show to pursue a future career in acting. A story-arch involving an evil spell-enchanted Katherine Hillard stealing Kimberly's power coin would occur. Eventually, Katherine would become the new Pink Ranger while Kimberly would leave Angel Grove to train for the Pan Global Games, a dream of the character's.

Kimberly Hart would be mentioned in a "Dear John" letter to Tommy in Power Rangers Zeo, breaking up with the character.

During Turbo: A Power Rangers Movie, Amy Jo Johnson's character Kimberly would return alongside Jason Lee Scott (played by Austin St. John/Jason Geiger). While their presence is a nod for the fans of the series, the two characters do not truly deliver anything exceptional to the movie. Rather than spoil it for you, you may feel free to check it out for yourself (spoiler: the movie wasn't that great...)

Amy Jo Johnson was born in the month of October, 1970 (that's right boys, she's 42 now!). She was an accomplished gymnist and competed until the age of 17. After studying music, she ended up landing the role of Kimberly Hart the Pink Ranger on Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, which launched her acting career.

Amy Jo Johnson is also an accomplished song-writer and singer, with three albums out - The Trans-American Treatment, Dancing Inbetween, and Imperfect. You can find samples of her music via iTunes by clicking here.

Other works from Amy Jo Johnson include the popular TV series such as Flashpoint and Felicity, amongst a number of other appearances on shows like ER, Saved by the Bell: The New Class, Cracked, along with an appearance on I Love the 90's. She also starred in various short films and made-for-TV movies.

Being one of the original five Power Rangers, it's safe to say that Amy Jo Johnson has gone on to live a very successful career in show business. But to so many of us, she will always be Kimberly Ann Hart, the Mighty Morphin Pink Power Ranger!
