Exalted Blue soared past, destroying countless enemies around her, including one about to blindside Exalted Red from behind. Melissa gave a nod in thanks and ran the beast through with her sword. Giving it a swift kick to send the dead creature toppling on down the small hill where she made her stand.
They just kept coming. One after another clamoring up the hill, and one by one she sent them down again. But she knew this couldn't last forever. Something had to give.. Sadly she knew what that something had to be.
Her attention turned skyward as the world around her became dark. The beating of wings so loud the ground beneath her shook, the trees bent from the power of them alone, and the wind kicked up. Swirling angrily around her. The sight of it forced her back a full step.. The Dragon was.. Massive didn't seem to cover it. Easily the size of her brother's Zord Beast, with a wingspan that seemed to stretch to both side of the horizon. The four legged twisted beast roared, spitting and breathing sulfurous fire from the corners of it’s gaping maw. ... But then it was gone.

The entire world around her was gone. Melissa blinked her confusion, went to grip her sword only to feel it disappeared. As did her entire costume leaving her wearing the same dress she wore when the Old Ones first attacked. Back when she still had a Kingdom to be Princess of. She began searching, looking for some clue about where she was.. what had happened. But the strength of the voice that answered her confusion stopped her dead.

Taking a deep swallow, frantically searching for the source of the voice, she gave a slow nod.

She took a single surprised step back as the Guardian Beast of Legend emerged from within the darkness. His white fur, large blonde mane, bright blue eyes shone so bright the darkness melted away. They were in a great grass field. Sun shining high above them bathing them both in warmth..

White Lion of the North. Guardian of the Alder Blood, and Ally of the Kingdom. King of the Guardian Beasts.

Without a second thought Melissa dropped onto one knee, bowing her head deep.

Sir Lion! I.. I apologize! My Father spoke of you but I always assumed..

That I would only appear before your brother? No, Child Melissa. Your brother has paid to deep a price for his Mastery of Dragon, and become Blind to my Call.

Do you know the Legend of Guardian Dragon, Child? He once began as one of us. The Guardian Beast of Power. But, during the first attack by the Old Ones, became tainted with their poison. Corrupted. So your Great Grandfather sealed him beneath the Castle of which you lived. Hoping time so close to the source of our Power, the Blade of Alder, would cleanse him of his corruption. But that would take thousands upon thousands of years.. And the Old Ones had come again.
Your brother, Alastair, fell upon the Dragon on accident. During the assault on the Kingdom he was thrown into a crevasse created by the battle to die. But Dragon caught him, and offered him one singular chance to live. Alastair accepted the offer, you understand? He and the Dragon have become one. Bonded in a symbiotic relationship that means he now shares their corruption. Thus blinding him to my power.

Nor were you ever meant to. You desire my power, this much is certain. Kong of the Volcano has said your heart is pure, but I know of your past, young one. So I ask.. What would you do given my Power?

The Great Corrupted Dragon opened his Maw, rearing down to swallow Melissa whole..

Exalted Red’s body erupted in powerful white light, forcing the Dragon to rear back and shield his eyes from the brightness of it! And within this light came a great change! Melissa was lifted off her feet, arms and legs stretched wide as she slowly spun off the ground. Her Red suit disappeared within the light, reforming into a single white piece of sparkling mail. White wisps, small balls of light, soared around her in quick erratic patterns. Striking her lower legs forming knee-length boots trimmed in gold and a single band of black. Two more melting into her hands to become glistening white gauntlets trimmed the same as the boots.
Slowly lowered upon her feet, arms still stretched wide the Great White Guardian Lion bounded towards her. Leaping, striking her back, forming the molded armor of her Beast. The chest was ornate with trim and decoration like that of a lion’s head. The mane forming a blonde collar around her neck and down to her bust. And then the head.. Molding around hers, creating a blonde mane from the helmet down her back, and becoming the final piece of..

EXALTED WHITE LION!
EXALTED LION KNIGHT!

Thrusting her opened hands down at her sides the white light bubble which cocooned her was destroyed. One foot standing before the next, White Knight lifted hr right hand and stretched it high above her head.

SWORD OF THE ANCIENT BEASTS!
BEAST BUSTER!

The Dragon roared, turning it’s yellow haunted eyes skyward as the clouds themselves parted around the blade which formed. Forcing the beast to recoil from the coming sunlight.. The sword itself slowly lowered, landing perfectly within her closing hand. The blade was nearly her height of five foot six, easily meant for two hands though she held it perfectly with two. Swiftly swinging it down, making the blade glisten against the sunlight above..
The angered Dragon opened his maw, preparing another flame burst, but Melissa was already moving. Rushing towards the Beast. Both hands holding the handle of the great Zweihander. Expertly, White Knight leapt as the Beast tried to burn her, flipping forward over his entire head and skidding down along the long neck of the snarling Beast. Coming to a stop, she drew her blade up. Energy ribbons of pure white energy swirling around the blade, preparing her ultimate attack on the massive beast.. But the Dragon would not be taken so easily.
The Beast took for the skies and White Knight gripped onto one of the large spines down it’s back to stop from falling off. The Beast soared into the reforming darkening clouds above, thunder and lightning sounding all around them. Rolling, weaving, until She could hold no longer and was thrown from the Beast..

EXALTED HAWK!

The White Knight called on the power of the Exalted Hawk and great white feathered wings formed behind her, the blonde mane coming from her helmet falling between as they flapped and kept her aloft. The Great Dragon turned, attempting to ram her straight on but she easily twisted her body and avoided the hit. Swinging her blade to slice through the creature’s skull.. It howled it’s pain, blood spraying from the right side of it’s skull where an eye had once been. And the half-blind creature attempted another pass, maw opened to burn her alive once again..
But she was ready. Sword raised, her other arms stretched towards the beast, as she gathered those white swirling ribbons of energy around her blade...

EXALTED GRAND DYNAMIC!

The Blade swung down with a tremendous force. Forming a single white arching wave which hurtled towards the creature at an incredible speed! And the Wave struck, slicing the beast straight down the middle and causing an explosion which filled the skies..

As all watched beneath. The Boy was safe, climbed atop Malcolm’s broad shoulders. Jennifer’s body had been wrapped and laid safe within the clearing as the other Exalted gathered and watched their leader slowly land before them. Unlike her friends, her power didn’t revert to normal as she landed. The armor of Knight went away. That much was like before.. But she was left wearing the uniform of Exalted White. Matching that of her friends except for an amber visor and golden crest.

Today it starts. We make sure the Boy is safe, we mourn Jennifer while celebrating her life and honoring her sacrifice. And then we take the fight to the Old Ones. No more running. No more hiding. No more just getting by.. We fight to win!

Thrusting her hand skyward her friends soon joined her gesture. This was where it started, this was the first day of the New Era
