I dunno if that is really true, if kids still read comics then they'll know Aquaman is awesome. New 52 has made Aquaman cool again and although I think that perhaps he is a little too 'edgy' to translate into a kids cartoon in his current comics form, a softer, more adventure focused variation of the character could work well for a cartoon I think.

Since what kids don't love a good bit of adventure, pirates, sword fighting and giant monsters?
