Get everything you need, so for an essay any books/resources you might have to reference or use, nice and early (around a week to three days before the deadline) and have a little flick through each, maybe underlining or marking pages that might help. Then wait until the night before the deadline and let the pressure from the impending deadline motivate you. This is the only way I can get uni stuff done otherwise I just procrastinate =p

It helps if you have a gameplan too like sentai tamashii said. I'm personally hoping to become a teacher after uni and I have a small set of goals that I want to achieve in life, as cheesy as it sounds this really helps me focus =]

Other then that, slap some tunes on, don't get too stressed and just try and do your best
