It's rather odd that, in this age, we actually have less strict censorship (I remember back when the only cartoon I could recall to use normal guns was Batman: TAS. Everywhere else used lasers or just resorted to physical weapons), additionally, it seems "Never say die" has effectively been removed over the past years.

But it seems that, where censorhip has lightened, it's countered by backpedaling on something else.

Regular Show is if a stoner comedy was animated and thinly veiled as a children's show. I get less enjoyment out of the show itself and more out of a voyeuristic sense of 'what will they get away with this week'?

Censorship has eased off...where? Sure you had stuff like the Spider-Man cartoon where he wasn't allowed to throw a punch and 'mercy bullets' but in comparison the 90s shows were as free as Gypsy Travellers compared to what we have now. A 4kids dub seems to be the base model for every new American Animated Action IP from the last five or ten years.
