It was an Anniversary Series that had tribute episodes that celebrated 35 years of Sentai, but it was also a super fun show with a great and solid set of characters outside of cameos and, regardless of Matrixbeast's Gokaiger bashing, the storyline, while not incredibly involved due to the nature of the season, was fun in itself even in the episodes that weren't tributes and every character got a good amount of focus and the show succeeded in being great entertainment and having characters that were interesting enough to care about. The tribute episodes themselves also didn't just sit there wanking up the nostalgia, but always focused more on the main characters growing as heroes.

Megaforce's first episode was hollow, poorly realised nostalgia wank. Gokaiger was not. I started with Gokaiger and loved it. I was blown away comparing it to the 19 seasons of Power Rangers I'd seen and its what got me into Sentai in the first place. Even my brother, who doesn't watch either Sentai or Power Rangers unless we're watching it in the room he's in sat down and watched every episode of Gokaiger and loved it and has even re watched the series.

I think Gokaiger, due to just how fun the series and characters are, is a pretty good place to start. Gives you an idea of the differences between PR and Sentai without being a gigantic swap. I can understand a PR fan being shocked if they started with Jetman, for example.

Watch Timeranger. The point being, just go off and watch the Sentai which made your favorite PR season. This way it's a bit of an easier transition. That's the best advice, imo. My partner loved MMPR, so after Gokaiger, we watched Zyuranger. They loved Samurai (I know, I know), so we watched Shinkenger and then I loved Mystic Force, so we watched Magiranger and so on and so on. The only exception was Jetman, which I insisted on watching because I loved the Gokaiger episode.
