My problem was, that the Shinkenger's already had identifiable personalities, personalities that had been played with in fun and meaningful ways and a team that had a very interesting and engaging balance. Then they just lobbed Genta into the middle, who didn't fit with the team at all, for some story reasons most not, and just threw off everything the show had fine tuned up to that point. None of the proceeding character focus would have been needed (and those episodes wouldn't have been such a waste) if they had just woven in a better sixth who was an actual character.
