Yeah man, because a lot of the show focuses on the adventuring and saving of people often more so than the monster fighting, the civilian powers come in real handy. I mean it isn't all equal, the practicality of Dax's, Will's and Mack's mean they are used way more often than Ronny and Rose's which are both, largely, kinda useless so far.
Still, the same problems kinda remain for me. They worked in Ninja Storm because they were Ninja and their Ranger powers and civilian powers were largely the same Ninja Arts. But remember how Conner had super speed, but it was Trent who had that signature super speed attack, when his power was camouflage? Yeah, why the fuck would you do that?
I hated the ones in SPD as well, as they gave each Ranger an extremely useful ability which almost made them a plothole as I constantly wondered (although I knew why) in the context of SPD, the Rangers would refuse to use their civilian powers to the point of nearly dying because of it, whenever they morphed.
The same thing kinda happens here, with the civilian powers adding so much identity to the Rangers in the unmorphed fight scenes and the powers really fitting with the characters well, the Rangers almost become blander when they morph. And in some cases their morphed fighting style or weapon or whatever totally contradicts what their American counterpart is about, completely breaking the illusion.
