Kamen Rider Xtreme: The Illusion of Power
Alex and Sampson stood in the middle of a cemetery in front of a single grave. Alex knelt down in front of it and laid a bouquet of flowers on the ground in front of the grave.
Alex sighed, “So, this is it?”
“Yes,” Sampson returned, “Although, since her body was never found, it's more of a memorial than an actual grave. Even so, it's better than nothing after all.”
“I see,” Alex said with sorrow in his voice, “guess you have a point.” He looked down at a bit of text carved into the lower portion of the grave, “In memory of Alice Darwin... a noble heart, and a caring mother.” he read off quietly.
“I find it rather sad,” Sampson proclaimed, “to think that someone's life can be summed up in a mere seven words. Sure, maybe there are some that can, but your mother was more then that. Be sure that you remember that Alex... and remember her.”
“Sampson,” Alex got up on to his feet and turned to face Sampson, “Thank you, for bringing me out here... and, for everything. I don't think I'd still be here if it wasn't for your help.”
Sampson smiled, “You really are your mother's child.”
Alex tilted his head to the side, “I thought that was obvious...”
“Well, it's just that you remind me so much of her,” Sampson stated, “Back when I gave you the case containing that device you now wear around your waist, I knew that whatever the contents was that you would use it to the best of your ability. Even though that was the very first time the two of us had actually met face to face.”
“How did you know that?” Alex asked.
Sampson placed his hand on Alex's shoulder, “Because of the look in your eye, it was the same as hers.”
Alex and Sampson walked out the front gate of the cemetery where a black car was waiting.
“You need a ride anywhere?” Sampson asked.
“No thanks, there's something I've been meaning to check out neer by,” Alex stated, “I should be able to get there on my own.”
“Okay,” Sampson returned as he opened the door to the black car, “Just be careful, alright?”
“I think I can handle it,” Alex chuckled.
“Just making sure,” Sampson smirked as he hopped into the driver's seat shutting the car door and rolling down the window, “All I meant was to take it easy.”
“Alright, I'll be sure to do that,” Alex said.
“Good,” Sampson returned turning over the key in the ignition as the engine roared over the two of them, “I should get going now, take care.”
“Yeah, you too,” Alex waved as Sampson drove off the curb and down the road soon fading into the heavy traffic.
After Sampson disappeared, Alex took a quick look at his watch, “Oh crap, that can't be the time!”
---
Marcoh sat at his desk reading over a file of recent reports. As he turned the page the phone began to ring.
“Ardent City Police Department,” He said answering the phone, “Ghosts?... Sorry, this is the police, not a paranormal investigation agency.” He slammed the phone down on the receiver and returned to his reports, “Kids today.”
---
Alex ran through two rows of glass doors leading into a large three story mall. He walked down the main lobby until he reached the balcony near the center of the complex.
“Let's see...” He said as he surveyed the different levels, “Second floor.”
He ran up a flight of stairs a few feet away from him until he reached the second floor of the mall. Without looking, he dashed down the block of stores to the right.
“Man they better still have-” He thought to himself before slamming into something hard and fell onto the ground. He rubbed his head a bit, “What th-”
“Ow...” He heard a quiet voice call out.
Alex looked to see what he ran into to only to notice Madison on the ground right across from him holding a bag filled with several small packages that had been spilled across the ground.
“Oh crap, I'm sorry,” Alex said grabbing a few of the packs and handing them to Madison, while Madison fumbled trying to grab all the stuff that fell out of her bag.
“No, it's my fault sorry,” Madison returned as she grabbed the small package, accidentally brushing her fingers against the side of Alex's hand. She looked up and noticed who it was standing over her, her face turning a bright shade of red, “... GAAAH!” She screamed as grabbed all the items that spilled onto the ground and shoved them back into her bag as she jumped onto her feet, “A-Alex... what uh... what are you doing here?” She asked whipping dust off the legs of her pants.
Alex stood silent for a second before responding, “I was... just looking around... for, stuff.” His eyes were then drawn to the bag Madison was holding, “So... what's in the bag?”
Madison crossed her arms bringing the bag close to her chest, “Nothing!”
Alex blinked for a second, “... Okay, never mind.”
Madison looked around surveying the area for a moment.
Alex raised an eyebrow, “You on the run or something?”
Madison grabbed Alex by the wrist, “Come with me.”
“Hey, wait a-” Alex protested before being pulled off down the stairs he had just hiked up.
In a few short moments, Madison pulled Alex down several flights of stairs until they reached the ground floor of the mall. Madison then dove over to a small white bench on the side of the staircase and planted Alex on one side as she landed on the other.
“Now, I'm showing you this in confidence so you better not tell anyone, alright?” She instructed as reached into her bag.
Alex sat in silence for a moment trying to make sense of what just happened, “Yeah, okay I got it.”
“Great,” Madison exclaimed, “Now then, I had been saving up for this one with it being the big twenty and boy did it take it's sweet time getting up here.”
“I see...” Alex said, “What exactly are you talking about?”
“This!” Madison shoved a small carded package into Alex's face.
Alex grabbed the box and took a closer look, he read off the flowing “Power Rangers Megaforce, Yellow Ranger...”
“I also picked up the new Black Ranger since he and yellow are the 'couple' this season and...” Madison sighed as she reached into her bag. She paused for a second before pulling out a nothing carded package with a small figure of a completely different design, “Robo Knight.”
“Is there something wrong with him or something?” Alex asked.
“Well, he looks cool and everything but...” Madison paused for a second as she took in a deep breathe, “What the hell kind of name is Robo Kngiht?! Why not just call him Mega Knight or something like that? Hell, just slap 'Gosei' on him like everything else in the damn line!” She sighed as she placed the box on the bench, “... you can laugh at me now.”
Alex sat confused for a moment, “Why would I?”
“Because it's childish and stupid,” Madison said hanging her head, “Sarah keeps telling me that I need to grow up and 'act my age'... Kind of thinking she may have a point.”
“So what,” Alex stated, “if you like something then why stop? Just go for it, and not give a damn about what other people say.”
Madison sat silent, “Oh, that reminds me,” She said as she reached into her bag and pulled out a small black box, “I found this a while back thinking they reminded me of the soul gems in Madoka,” She said opening the box revealing a large purple gemstone, “I thought it was something from an up and coming magical girl anime or something like that but after searching the internet for forty-seven straight hours I realized I was wrong.”
“Well...” Alex stared at the stone for a good long while, “Though it does look kind of cool.”
Madison sighed, “You want it? I've run out of run on my shelf.”
“Sure, I'll take it off your hands,” Alex said reaching for the box.
As Alex reached for the box his fingers met with Madison's. Madison jumped back a bit.
“Something wrong?” Alex asked as he slipped the box into his pocket.
“Uh... no... um, I-I mean,” She said as she began to blush a bit. She paused and took in a deep breathe they exhaled, “Listen. There's something I've been meaning to ask you. It's a little serious so bear with me for a moment.”
Alex sat up straight, “Alright, what is it?”
Madison gulped. “Um... Alex, would you-”
“AAAAHHHHHH!” Many voices shrieked from the other side of the ground floor of the mall as many people swarmed over to the exit.
“Hold that thought,” Alex said as he jumped up from the bench.
Madison reached out to grab Alex's arm but stopped before she made contact with him “Oh... right.”
“Now get out of here alright,” Alex said as he ran off into and disappeared into the crowd.
Madison sighed as she leaned back against the wall.
---
Alex shuffled through the crowd until he came to a clearing. He surveyed the area as he quickly discovered scorch marks covering the walls and bits of the floor.
“Scorch marks?... So it's a fire base,” He thought to himself pulling out the Blast and Diver memories as his driver materialized around his waist. He then placed the two memories into the appropriate slots on the device.
“Blast! Diver!” Alex's driver called out as the Blast Diver armor formed around him and the Corona Blaster formed in his hand.
“Now then, where are you?” He said as he surveyed his surroundings.
As Alex looked around, a ball of fire whipped across the left side his face. He quickly evaded, turned and aimed his blaster in the direction the ball came from. As he turned around, his eyes became fixed on a black figure engulfed in crimson fire from head to toe.
Alex stood in awe and lowered his blaster, “... F-Flame?”
“What's the matter boy?” The figure cackled, “It's seems as though you've seen a ghost.”
“But, I defeated you, how are you-” Alex said before being smacked with a fire ball and thrown across the hall into a pile of ruble.
Flame then walked over to him and pressed his foot against Alex's chest, “You talk too much.”
Alex grabbed Flame's foot and tried to lift it off him as he gasped for air.
Flame smirked, “Pathetic.”
In a mere instant Flame pressed down harder on Alex and kicked him across hallway sending him flying into a large fountain not far from where he and Madison were sitting not too long ago.
Alex limped back onto his feet and held his blaster at the ready, “I've defeated you once before Flame, and I can do it again just as easily.”
As he spoke, the water that was contained in the fountain that Alex was standing in began to shift around on it's own.
“Hm?” Alex said noticing the movement in the water.
Before Alex could react, the water around him rose up and encircled him. Alex held up his blaster and went to hold down the trigger but soon discovered that hand wasn't responding. In less than a second, his grip on his blaster loosened all on it's own and he dropped it into the current.
“You may have been able to beat Flame, but you couldn't beat me,” A voice cackled in the current as Alex's joints tightened up and was unable to move them.
“Who is that!” Alex shouted.
“Is that anyway to treat a lady?” The a dark hand marked with a silver arrow slithered onto Alex's left shoulder.
Alex gasped, “Shift!”
The dark figure clenched it's hand as Alex's jaw pressed shut, “Great to know I'm still fresh in your memory darling,” Shift cackled as her head appeared through Alex's right shoulder, “But unfortunately you have them for very much longer,” She proclaimed as she phased her arm through Alex's shoulder and straight through to the center of Alex's chest until she reached his driver.
She caressed the Diver memory and smirked, “How lovely for you to use a water based memory before encountering me. You sure know how to charm a girl,” She cackled before removing the memory from it's slot on Alex's driver, “I'll be taking this now sweetie,” as she held the memory in her grasp her eyes became fixed on the Blast memory in the other slot on Alex's driver, “Oh, and I shall be taking this one as well,” She said as she ripped out the Blast memory from it's slot, “Ta,” Shift said before she vanished into the current.
As soon as Shift disappeared, Alex's armor quickly dissolved into the current and the pillar of water began to fall apart. As the pillar fell, Alex felt a slight tug on his hair while he was swept to the ground below. Alex slowly crawled out of the fountain and coughed out a good portion of water onto the floor of the mall.
“Alex!” He heard call out to him.
Alex surveyed the area to find that Shift and Flame had vanished almost as quickly as the had appeared. He clenched his fists tightly.
“Alex, are you alright?” Madison asked as she ran up to him.
“Yeah, I'm fine,” He said looking over to see Madison looming over him, “Didn't I tell you to get out of here?”
“Yes,” She said pulling Alex out of the fountain, “but I couldn't just leave you.”
“That's pretty stubborn you know,” Alex returned as he grabbed Madison's hand and lifted himself out of the water.
Madison grinned, “Then I guess I'm just stubborn.”
“I can see that,” Alex said walking off towards the exit.
Madison quickly chased after him, “Wait, where are you going?”
Alex tightened his fists, “To figure out what's going on.”
---
At the police station, Alex and Madison sat across from Sampson at his desk, Marcoh standing at Sampson's side.
“So your saying that Flame and Shift, two dopants that you previously defeated, have somehow managed to reappear?” Sampson asked.
“Yes,” Alex returned.
“And one of them managed to swipe two of your memories after an ambush?” Marcoh added.
Alex hung his head, “Yes.”
“That explains the various ghost reports I've been getting,” Marcoh proclaimed.
“Ghost reports?” Sampson asked raising an eyebrow, “You've been getting ghost reports?... and you didn't say anything about them?”
“I wrote them off as prank calls, or just whacked out teenagers,” Marcoh stated, “I didn't think they were legit so I didn't take them seriously.”
“Seriously Marcoh?” Sampson said planting his face in his hand, “We've encountered a blood thirsty humanoid cat, a guy engulfed in fire that can make anything combust in an instant, a thief that can phase through solid matter and manipulate water at will and a serrated psycho killer... and you wrote off a ghost report as a prank without going into any further investigation?”
Madison shrugged, “He's got a point.”
“Did I ask you to speak Ms. Tyler?” Marcoh asked glaring at Madison.
Madison blinked a couple times, “No... it's just... I mean... um...”
Marcoh sighed, “What exactly are you doing here anyway?”
“Well... I'm a witness,” Madison tilted her head, “... aren't I?”
“You are,” Marcoh stated, “But you're still a civilian.”
Madison pointed at Alex whacking him in the face in the process, “I know Alex is Kamen Rider... That's got to count for something.”
“Getting back to the matter at hand,” Sampson interrupted, “It doesn't matter how these past foes are returning, what matters is why and how we should handle them.”
“I've got it!” Madison exclaimed with a snap. She reached into her bag and pulled out what appeared to be a DVD case, “Right here!”
Marcoh and Sampson sat silent. After a few awkward minutes, Sampson spoke up, “A children's TV show?”
“Not just any TV show,” Madison shouted pointing to the top of the case, “This is the complete second season of MMPR which just so happens to contain one of my favorite episodes of all time entitled 'Zedd's Monster Mash' in which he revives a six monsters that the rangers had previously defeated and sends them down for a rematch along side one brand new one named Doomstone! I know it was mostly stock footage spliced together from previous episodes with very little new footage but by Godoka it was still awesome seeing past monsters again!”
“Uh huh,” Sampson said quietly, “Point being?”
“My point is this,” Madison slammed the case down hard on Sampson's desk, “Whenever past monsters come back there is always someone behind it and it's usually the big bad of the series with some big plan that they're about to reveal and want's to make sure that it goes according to plan,” She said sitting back down with a prideful grin, “... That or the writers just slapped something together because they were under a time constraint and didn't have the time to create a new monster for the heroes to fight.”
“So you're saying that a third party is most likely involved in this?” Marcoh asked.
“E yup,” Madison returned, “Come to think of it, depending on how quickly you track the guy down you could find out where his boss is hiding then you could take him down as well. Man, wouldn't that be a short series, wouldn't even have enough time for a team-up episode.”
Marcoh grunted, “As nice as that sounds, the real world isn't the same as the ones in cartoons.”
Madison's eyes widened a bit, “MMPR isn't a cartoon, it's toku.”
“Is there really a difference?” Marcoh retorted.
Madison raised her hand and took in a deep breathe. Marcoh then glared at her with one raised eyebrow, and Madison dropped her hand down to her side, “never mind.”
“Getting back on topic,” Sampson said clearing his throat, “it would be in our best interest to-” He was interrupted by the ringing of the phone on his desk. In a mere instant Sampson swiped the phone of the receiver and held it up to his ear, “Ardent City Police Department... uh huh... uh huh... I see... Alright, we'll get right on it,” He hung up the phone and grinned a bit, “Well, isn't that fortunate.”
“What did they say?” Marcoh asked.
“They called to report man covered in serrated metal with three large blades on the ends of his hands,” Sampson said leaning back in his chair, “Sound familiar at all?”
Alex jumped out his seat, “Where is he?”
“Downtown, around Davenforth... not far from where you encountered the other two,” Sampson verified, “You're going I take it?”
“Do you need to ask?” Alex retorted.
Sampson paused for a second, “I... guess not.”
Alex smirked, “Great.”
He dashed over to the door of Sampson's office and bolted into the hallway.
Madison jumped up, “Wait.”
Alex stopped in the doorway and looked directly at Madison.
“About what I mentioned a while ago... that thing I need to ask you,” Madison began to blush a bit, “I'll ask you when you get back... okay?”
“Yeah, got 'cha,” Alex said quickly before disappearing behind the frame of the door.
Madison stood frozen with a big grin on her face. After a few moments she looked over to find Marcoh and Sampson staring at her.
Madison blinked a few times, “... what?”
“Nothing,” the two officers said in unison looking away from her.
Madison raised an eyebrow, “... uh huh...”
---
Alex drove down the road on the X-Cyclone until he the location that Sampson said. He hopped off of his bike and surveyed the area around him. Davenforth was normally a busy street but, to Alex's surprise, it looked to be abandoned. Upon closer inspection, Alex noticed that several of the buildings a windows blown out or heavily cracked along with several abandoned vehicles that were heavily damaged.
“The hell happened here?” He whispered under the smoke filled air.
At that moment, a loud screech filled the air and began to grow louder as if it were coming towards Alex. He looked in the direction of the sound to see a car hurling towards him. Alex quickly evaded as the car smashed into the side of a building and burst into flames.
“Still as agile as ever I see,” A voice cackled.
Alex looked in the direction that the car came from to see a being made of metal emerged from a cloud of smoke.
“So it is Shredder after all,” Alex said as he pulled out the Blade and Kicker memories from his back pocket and his driver materialized around his waist.
“However, speed can only get you so far,”Shredder snarled as Alex placed his two memories into their respective slots in the driver.
“Blade! Kicker!” Alex's driver called out as his Blade Kicker armor formed around him and the Bla-Jalibur materialized in his hand.
Shredder smirked, “Eager are w-”
Before Shredder could finish speaking, Alex had already dashed over to him and swung his blade at Shredder. Shredder instantly parried with his left set of blades and began forcing Alex back with Alex pushing back with the same amount of force.
Shredder broke the parry and pushed Alex back a few feet, “Didn't your mother ever teach you that it's rude to interrupt people while they're speaking to you?”
As soon as Shredder said that, Alex rammed himself into Shredder and pinned him against a building.
“Your memory was destroy,” Alex said pressing his sword against Shredder's neck, “How were you able to reclaim it?”
Shredder laughed softly.
Alex brought his sword back and prepared to swing down on Shredder, “Answer me damn it!”As Alex swung his sword at Shredder, his arm came to an abrupt halt. Alex's eyes widened behind his mask, “what?”
“I would appreciate it if you didn't harm my comrade thank you very much,” A voice called out from behind Alex.
Alex looked over his shoulder to see Shift and Flame standing along side a dark hooded figure in a long dark robe, “Who... what are you?”
“So glad you ask dear child,” The hooded figure cackled, “I am the Master Dopant.”
Alex grunted, “Master?”
“Yes,” The figure confirmed, “Every gaia memory that has ever been is under my direct control... and any that are destroyed I can recreate with ease... Speaking of, Shredder would you mind?”
“Yes Master,” Shredder returned as he yanked out the Blade and Kicker memories from Alex's driver as Alex's rider form shattered to pieces, “Here,” He shouted as he threw the two memories over to Master.
Master caught the memories with one quick motion and caressed them with his fingers, “Lovely... Though one would have to wonder how such powerful memories came into your possession in the first place,” He slid the memories into the folds of his sleeves, “Oh well, how you got them is irrelevant, so long as they're mine now... Anyway, Shredder you may do away with him as you like. Then check to see if he as any other memories lying around his corpse.”
Shredder nodded, “Yes master.”
Shredder grabbed Alex by his neck and raised left set of blades into the air preparing to slash Alex to bits. As he was about to strike he began to tremble, with each passing second his shaking became even more violent. After a few moments the blades on Shredder's wrists came undone and fell to the ground, turning to dust upon contact. Not long after Shredder followed suit and began to fall apart until he was nothing but dust and Alex fell to the ground.
“What?” Master gawked in horror at what just unfolded in front of him.
“Master... I feel strange,” Shift said clenching her chest before ultimately melting into a pile of dust on the ground and flame's fire instantly went out and he soon turned to dust.
Alex watched on the ground as Master panicked and ran off into the ruined part of the city. Not long after, a dark shadow appeared over Alex.
“Sorry, but I had a good reason for not jumping in sooner. I imagine you must be quite some pain at the moment,” The shadow placed a hand over Alex's face as his eye began to close, “don't worry, you'll be fine... just sleep for now, alright?”
---
Alex awoke looking up at an old and unfamiliar ceiling. He felt around to learn that he was lying on an old dusty coach. He slowly sat up to find a blanket that had been wrapped around him.
He looked around the room, “Where... am I?”
The room he was currently inhabiting was cluttered with various antiques. A glass coffee table sat a few feet away from him and similar brown coach was directly on the other side.
“Oh good,” A voice called out, “you're awake.”
Alex turned to see a chipper middle aged man with silver hair clad in emerald green standing in the middle of a door way. In his hands he carried a trey that held two china cups filled with some kind of tea with steam rising from the tops.
“I was beginning to worry,” The man said with a smile as he entered the room and drew closer to Alex.
“Who are you, and what am I doing here,” Alex demanded as the man sat down on the coach opposite Alex and placed the trey he was carrying on the coffee table, “Where is here anyway?”
“There will be time for that later,” The man handed Alex one of the two cups, “Here, you must be thirty.”
“Are you working for Master?” Alex said with an intense glare.
“Master?,” The man asked, “Sorry, the only master I work for is myself. Anyway, your tea will get cold if you don't drink it.”
“I'm don't really like tea all that much,” Alex stated.
“Oh, I see,” The man said placing the cup down, “I guess you could say that it's not your cup of tea.”
“Quit messing around,” Alex slammed his hands down on the coffee table, “Who are you?”
“Oh, of course, where are my manors?” The man said with a smirk as he reached into his pocket, “My name is Joel Revant,” He pulled his hand out of his pocket and placed it onto the coffee table, “Though my former colleagues referred to my as...” He slowly removed his hand to reveal a golden gaia memory marked with a stylized 'I' “Inertia.”
Alex jumped to his feet nearly losing his balance and tripping over his feet a bit and catching himself on the arm of the couch.
“Relax, I'm not like the others,” Joel said taking a sip of his tea, “At least not anymore.”
Alex sat back down, “How exactly would you be different?”
“Well for one I saved your life,” Joel smirked, “Kamen Rider.”
“So you know who I am, so what?” Alex growled.
“I know many things,” Joel said placing his cup down and folding his hand together, “Like how you're power has been more than halved after that Dopant stole four of your six gaia memories... But even so, there are still others out there that are far more powerful then you are, and the memories you possess.”
Alex raised an eyebrow, “How do you know that?”
“Well, put simply,” He grunted, “I created them.”
“You what?!” Alex exclaimed.
“Calm down,” Joel said raising his hand to Alex, “What I mean is, myself along with three others did. Let me explain. While on an archeological exhibition, the four of us found a temple, inside were scriptures that told of four warriors that carried with them the power of the elements of wind, earth, ice and fire and each one of them obtained their power through a gaia memory that was given to them by a great spirit that maintained that element.”
“Seriously?” Alex asked, “You expect me to believe that?”
“Well, neither did we at the time,” Joel explained, “but that's not important at the moment, because you see at hidden deep within the temple were two relics and two of the gaia memories that the warriors in the scriptures. Those were the first gaia memories that any of us had ever seen, and upon our discovery we formed the group known as META. The next step after that would be to transport the memories to further analyze them, however during the transport we lost one and were unable to reclaim it.”
Alex sighed, “So, the other three are still out there somewhere?”
“That would be my guess,” Joel smirked, “Anyway, when we were able to analyze the memory we had further, we discovered that it was a highly mechanical device and could be replicated.”
“So you tried making your own, right?” Alex asked.
“Exactly,” Joel confirmed, “However, our first attempt didn't exactly workout so well. We tried copying the memory we had to the letter, unfortunately for us though it turned out to be a dud and wouldn't work. However, once we attempted to start from scratch, and only mimic the basic structure, our efforts turned out successfully. The four of us knew that this was fated to be, and thus we deemed our first fully functioning gaia memory as... Fata.”
Alex's eyes widened, “You mean...”
“Yes,” Joel returned, “Kamen Rider Fata, the rider before you, was one of the founding members of META... the organization which you now face. She certainly was a strong one.”
“So, then were did the dopants come from?” Alex asked.
Dopants?” Joel asked, “Oh, you must be referring to the people who use a gaia memory without a filter correct?”
Alex raised an eyebrow, “Filter?”
“During the experimentation process, we discovered that overtime the memories begin to corrupt the user and that without aid, they would eventually wear down the user until they were merely a shell of their former self,” Joel explained, “To prevent that from happening, we engineered a device known as a driver to filter out the negative energy that was produced by the memory. However, there were still a few that got out to the public, these created what you call 'dopants' like the one you encountered earlier today.”
“and Fata?” Alex asked.
“She was tasked with tracking down and disposing of the memories that got lose acting as an agent of our organization,” Joel stated, “making her the first rider as well as technically the first dopant,” Joel sighed, “But that was all long ago, and I've long since retired... ever since Fata met her untimely end.”
Alex stared down at the floor, “Stop.”
“Hm?” Joel said raising an eyebrow.
“Please,” Alex stood up, “just stop talking.” he slowly walked over to the door way, “I don't want to hear anymore of this.
“Flame, Shift and Shredder,” Joel said.
“What?” Alex asked turning to Joel.
“Those were the dopants that you said attacked you right?” Joel proclaimed, “Well, you should know that Flame was the name of our first attempt at making a gaia memory, though why that it I can't be certain... Also, once a memory is destroyed there is no way to recreate. Therefore, that Master dopant is not what it claims to be.”
“I don't care,” Alex said as he disappeared behind the doorway.
“Your bike is right outside in front of the shop,” Joel said as he heard the front door open and slam shut. He sighed, “Well, at least you can't blame me for trying...” He looked over to a photograph on a small desk on the other side of the room, “right Alice?”
---
Alex walked out the front of the shop as he saw his bike sitting right where Joel said it would be. He hopped on his bike drove off the curb and on to the road.
He sighed, “Damn it, I have enough to deal with.”
At that moment Alex found himself forced off his bike and into the wall of a building not far from the road.
He felt a hand grab his throat and tighten it's grip, “There you are you little prick!”
Alex looked in front of him to see the same dopant from before glaring at him through a skull shaped mask.
“Man,” Alex gasped kicking the dopant off of him sending him back as his driver materialized around his waist, “I am not in the mood for this right now!”
He pulled out the Star and Runner memories and placed them into his driver.
“Henshin!” Alex shouted as he split the slots of the driver apart.
“Star! Runner!” Called out as Alex's Star Runner armor formed around him.
Alex ran his fingers along the silver 'x' that adorned his mask in the shape of a gun until flicking his hand of the side of his left shoulder, “I'll make this quick.”
The dopant chuckled, “You shall try.”
Alex dashed at the dopant and threw a punch square in his face, he then proceeded into an axe jumping roundhouse knocking the dopant to the ground.
“Insolent fool,” the dopant snarled, “You should know to respect your master!”
“You know you can give up the sherade already,” Alex cracked his knuckles, “I already know that you can't really revive gaia memories. Once they're gone they're gone for good.”
“Are you sure about that?” The dopant snarled.
Alex glared at him, “Yeah I'm-”
“BANG!” A gunshot sounded from behind as a bullet skimmed the surface of Alex's armor.
Alex turned around to see what appeared to be his Blast Diver form standing behind him. Before Alex could blink he felt the sharp end of a blade press against his neck as saw Blade Kicker standing right beside him with his blade pressed against Alex.
“Still doubt my power?” the dopant cackled as he got back on his feet, “As you can see, not even your memories are free from my control!”
“Well, you definitely have some power... However, there is one thing that bugs me, ”Alex smirked under his mask, “Those shots that Blast Diver fired, how come they were normal bullets?”
“What do you mean 'normal bullets'?” The dopant demanded.
“What I mean is that Blast's shots vary depending on which memory its accompanied by and when paired with Diver it supposed to fire a high powered blast of water,” Alex explained, “But you couldn't have known that, seeing as how you never saw Blast fire a single shot.”
The dopant began to shake, “And what exactly does that mean?”
Alex turned to the dopant, “It means that whatever power you do have, it's not that of a master.”
“Exactly,” A voice called out.
Alex and the dopant looked to the source of the voice to find the silver haired Joel Revant standing not far away from them.
The dopant stood in awe, “I... Inertia? But I thought-”
“That I was dead?” Joel asked, “Well, that was the idea. Though I prefer to think of it as 'early retirement'. Funny how the dopant that forces me out of it is one with a memory that had the exact same initial as my own.”
“Same initial?... as in 'i'?” Alex asked, “and what would that be?”
“It's a rather old one, but one of my finest creations,” Joel stated, “I'm rather proud that it's survived this long really... though I'm saddened that it has gotten into the hands of such a lowly worm. My finest masterpiece... Illusion.”
“Loathsome cur! I am Master!” The dopant exclaimed, “Don't mock my power, all your memories are mine to control!”
“Then why did your henchmen turn to dust?” Joel smirked, “My Inertia memory allows me to sapped my opponents of all the energy they need to function. If they were truly revived memories then there would have been a gaia memory at their and a host at their core. But all that was left was dust... nothing else.”
“Well... um...” The Illusion dopant stumbled, “Blade Kicker, Blast Diver! You handle them!” He said dashing into an alleyway as Blade Kicker and Blast Diver blocked his escape.
“You go after Illusion,” Joel said stepping up to Illusion's servants, “They're only imitations, they won't get past me.”
Alex looked at Joel for a moment, “Um... aren't you a little... old for this?”
“I might be old,” Joel took out old a rusty looking buckle along with his Inertia memory and slapped the buckle on his waist as a belt wrapped around his waist, “but I can still pull it off. Now getting going.”
“Right,” Alex said as he chased after Illusion down the alley.
“Now then...” Joel smirked as he hit the button on his gaia memory.
“Inertia!” The memory called out as he connected it to the center of his buckle as demonic faded white armor with a deep blue trim formed around him.
He raised his hand in a taunting motion, “Come at me... if you dare.”
---
Alex ran down the alleyway until he caught up with Illusion who had reached a dead end.
“No where left to run,” Alex said cracking his knuckles.
“Who says I plan to run?” Illusion cackled.
“Well then,” Alex removed the Star memory from his driver and placed it into the maximum drive slot on the side of his belt, “Your rampage ends here!”
Alex let the memory charge up before hitting the button on the side of the slot.
“Star! Maximum Drive!” The memory called out as Alex jumped into the air and proceeded into a kicking position.
“Xtreme Star Storm!” Alex shouted as he kicked the Illusion dopant square in the chest causing him to explode into a ball of fire.
Alex landed on the other side of the defeated dopant, “Glad... that's over...” He panted as he stood up and removed the two memories from his driver and his armor faded away.
As he tried to catch his breathe four memories fell from the sky and landed on the ground infront of him. He looked them to see that they were infact the four that were taken from him earlier, he then proceeded to pick them up and place them into his pocket “Glad to have you back guys.”
As he picked up the memories he felt an immense pain emerge from his chest around where he had hit Illusion. He soon noticed blood running down his arm, “But... I didn't even get hit... so how?”
“HAHAHA!” He heard a voice cackle, “You are a fool aren't you? To believe the incredible power that I sense was in the possession of such a pathetic worm.”
Alex looked over to see a dark figure emerge from the flames, “Who... what are you? How am I bleeding?”
“I... am Voodoo,” The figure smirked, “and those memories weren't the only thing that I stole from you,” He pulled out a few strands of hair, “Or perhaps you forgot about that small tug on your hair a little while ago.”
“I would love to stay and chat but I've obtained what I came here for," Voodoo said holding to Illusion memory up to Alex as a small portal opened up behind him, "Now then, I'm meeting up with an old friend soon,” He stepped through the portal as it began to close, “farewell... Kamen Rider.”
“Get back here!” Alex charged through the portal after Voodoo. The portal them quickly closed behind them.
