Well that missing brother subplot came back up faster than I expected. I definitely knew he wasn't gonna be just missing, but I never expected him to be so closely tied into the plot. If you really wanted to know the slightly less vague details on the belts' and Advent cards origins but don't mind spoilers from the endgame:

Shiro created the Rider belts in lab along with Kagawa making the Alternative belts in the same lab. We find out later on that Yui can survive in the mirror world without any nasty side affects like other people who usually dissolve. Along with the fact that Kanzaki shiro is also a ghost with no physical form and appears in the Mirror world with Yui, it could be inferred that Shiro used either his or Yui's DNA to create the Rider Belts and Kagawa used that DNA as a base for the Alternatives. Its not completely crazy since all the contract monsters are all reminiscent of child Yui's drawing's
