I know it isn't true of all shows, as expressed here, but I find it really odd how much better quality a lot of older series are, than modern ones, I dunno whether it's codecs or what but like Century King's Black rips look a thousand times better than TVN's Den-O rips, which suffer from regular tearing, pixelating and distortion.

The same can be said for the Dairanger rips by some sub group I've never heard of, they are murky because of the limitations of both money and tech of the time, but in terms of the quality itself it's beautifully crystal clear, with a constant consistency to its framerate and it never starts to crack, or distort or whatever else. Compare that to like the TVN Shinkenger rips I had, that looked all washed out like they were a water colour painting or something, I just find it bizarre. Shows from like twenty years ago, looking better in terms of video quality than shows that came out like five years ago.
