What you describe is not at all representative of my experience with the Double or Den-O SIC figures though. I don't find the articulation to be particularly limited in any way (well, Deneb and Ryutaros might have some issues with their skirts), on one of the Double figures one of the arms may pop out kinda easy, but not usually with something as simple as moving it to a new pose. I think the Den-O ones might be a little more solid than the first two Double sets.
I think you should pic up a Den-O set and check it out for yourself before you disregard the line entirely. Mandarake has the Ax Form/Rod form set for 2500 yen, and I'd say that's a fantastic price. I think I paid 3500 and I'm not in anyway disappointed. They also have Climax Form/Urataros for 3000 Yen, and Sword Form/Momotaros right now, too, but it's a bit more expensive than Ax/Rod, so if you're not sold on the line I'd grab a cheaper set first.
