It's clear that it is. Have you ever held up a glass or spoon or a kettle? It can take one small detail and stretch it out. That's how reflections work.

I am ENTIRELY convinced that it is most certainly a new helmet. And for the life of me I can't understand why you don't think it is. The entire reflection has some distortion yes, but that helmet cannot possibly be the result of the normal helmet being reflected or anything else. It isn't going to bend the two ends of the crest up at equal angles and extend the center point up to nearly the same length and create that raised peak on top of his helmet too. He's clearly wearing a very Kabuto esque helmet:



Looking at the image it's clear that the line of distortion ends jsut under his visor:



This is completely intentional. The character and setting are based on the Sengoku period anyway. That combined with what is clearly an image of a new helmet more than prove what this is. Why do you choose to fight something as obvious as this? I'm not just making this stuff up man. There's some hard evidence here.
