The following is a fanfic based on the anime "Dangan Ronpa." It takes place during a different timeframe, a while after the anime. Note that there are some dark themes in here, so if you are faint of heart, do not read.

Chapter 1 Part 1: Prologue

…“Ugh...my head…” Opening his eyes, the young man looked around and saw that he was inside a classroom...but something was off about it… “What?! Why are all the windows boarded up?!” The young man ran up to the window and tried to pull the boards off. “C’mon! Move! Ow!” Moving his hands away, the young man looked down at his hands to see they were bleeding a bit. “Damn...I can’t move these things off…” Suddenly, he heard a sound come out of a loudspeaker in the room. “Excuse me, excuse me...attention please! All students, please report to the gymnasium. Please report to the gymnasium.” “Students?...There are others besides me?” Turning around the young man saw the door and walked out. “Excuse me?” “Huh?...gah! A vampire?!” the young man said, leaping backwards and hit the wall. “Oh, no, I’m just a cosplayer.” “Cosplay?...” The young man looked closer to see that it was a young woman, dressed in a gothic like fashion. “You alright?” “Uh...yeah…” “You headed to the gym?” “Yeah...um...would you like to go together?” “...Sure…”

As the two entered the gym, they were surprised by a group of people. “Oh, you must be the last two students.” “Uh...yeah...who are you guys?”

-The first person to introduce himself was apparently a punk rocker, with red, spiky hair, leather pants and a biker’s jacket. Chains hung from his pants, with one chain attaching his sleeve to his jacket. Spikes on his shoulders, he flicked his guitar strings until he spoke. “Yo, you can call me Gendou, yeah! I’m trying my hardest to let my music get heard! So don’t get in my way.” -Super High-School Level Rock Star.

-The next person was a young man wearing a hoodie. Looking pretty energetic, he spun around and jumped. “Call me Kouta, I love to party and have fun!” he said, before backflipping and breaking into a dance. -Super High-School Level Breakdancer.

-A young man in a lab coat walked forward; his hair was slicked back and he wore sleek-looking glasses. Even though the young man reached his hand out, the other ignored him. “Daisuke. Now if you don’t mind I have to check my data sheets.” -Super High-School Level Chemist.

-Dressed in a sun hat and overalls, the young man began wiping the brim of sweat off his forehead. “Makito, nice to meet you.” -Super High-School Level Gardner.

-“I’m Sachi-desu, nice to meet you-desu.” -Super High-School Level Pâtisserie.

-Walking up in a suit with measuring tape around his neck, a young man spoke: “I’m Fuyuki. Wow, you have some really nice clothes on!” -Super High-School Level Fashion Designer.- “Not.”

-“Hey wanna buy one of these? Or these? I got a good deal for you!” -Tomiko, Super High-School Level Salesperson. “I can even get you a bundle!” she said, shoving a suitcase full of products in front of him.

-“Oh my, are you distressed right now? Well, feel free to vent.” -Juri, Super High-School Level Counselor. “I can talk with you about anything,” she said with a smile.

-“Ugh...I got a dig I need to get back to.” -Yamato, Super High-School Level Archaeologist. “I was on the verge of discovering an important part of history!”

-“Herro! Ah, I’m sorry, I mean hello!” -Maria, Super High-School Level Linguist. “Baka, baka, baka...I should know what to say!”

-“Eh?”-Kaoru, Super High-School Level Seiyuu (Voice Actress). “Sorry, I prefer to save my voice for more important matters.”

-“Odd...I can’t get any signal…”-Akiko, Super High-School Level Inventor. “You wouldn’t happen to have a toolkit on you, do you?”

-“Darling, where are we?” -Sora, Super High-School Level Cheerleader. “I don’t know, my dear!” -Taichi, Super High-School Level Soccer Player. “But it doesn’t matter-” “As long as I have you!” -Super High-School Level Couple.

-“Ta-da! Did I surprise you?!” -Tsukiko, Super High-School Level Magician. Tsukiko made her way to the young man but tripped, dropping cards, rings and flowers. “Ack! My tricks!”

-“Grr...Everybody, let’s rally together!” -Ryuuji, Super High-School Level Kendo Club President. “If we work together, we can make our way out of here!”

-“Yeah, I agree with him!” -Haru, Super High-School Level Hairstylist. “I have an appointment and I need to work on this client!”

“So...who are you?” the young man asked the girl who walked in with him. “Just call me ‘Lilith’ for now,” she said with a smile. -Lilith, Super High-School Level Cosplayer. “And you?” “Keiji.” -Super High-School Level ???

“So it appears we’re all people who specialize in something...but the question remains...does anybody know why we’re here?” Suddenly, all the students were quiet. “I...I actually don’t know…” “Where is this?” “I was just sent this letter telling me I got admitted…” Everybody turned to Akiko with wide eyes. “...Say that again…” “I got a letter that said I was admitted!” Daisuke walked up to her and grabbed her shoulders. “WHERE?! WHERE DID YOU GET ADMITTED?!” “Daisuke-san, calm down!” Juri said, jumping to him. “SHUT UP!” Daisuke yelled, smacking Juri to the side. “Hey…” “WHA- GEH!” Ryuuji was staring daggers at Daisuke, holding his sword up high. “Let her go.” “Tch...fine…” Daisuke said, backing off. “Juri-chan, are you okay?” “Yes, thank you Sachi,” Juri said as Sachi helped her up. “Now, Akiko, tell us, where were you admitted?” “H...Hope’s Peak Academy…” Everybody’s eyes widened. “Th...that...can’t be…” “I...I got that letter too…” “Darling and I as well!” “Did we all get that letter?!”

“Nyahaha...of course you all did!” “Eh?”

Turning to the podium, the students were surprised by what appeared to be a black and white stuffed cat jumping out. “A toy?” “I’m no toy, I’m MonoNeko! Your chairman at this academy!” “Wait...where have I heard this before?...” “Nyahaha...you must remember that tragedy that happened nearly a century ago…” Keiji’s eyes widened as he began to shake in terror. “My...my grandfather told me about Hope’s Peak Academy...then...that means…” “Nyahaha, that’s right! You all are in Hope’s Peak Academy!” “No...No!!!” Akiko screamed dropping to her knees. “But I thought that the school was rebuilt somewhere else!” “Nyahaha, yes, you were all meant to go to THAT Hope’s Peak, but I decided to bring you to mine instead! NYAHAHA.” “NO!!!” “Akiko, calm down!” “No! No! NO!!! I don’t wanna die! I don’t wanna die!” “D...die?” “Nyahaha, I see that she knows the story of this Academy. Welcome to the School Life of Mutual Killing!” “Mutual Killing?!” “That’s right...if you want to escape here, you’ll need to kill someone here! But no one must find out that it was you! After the murder, we will hold a class trial, where you are all able to try and find out who the murderer was! If you succeed...he/she will be punished accordingly. But if you fail...everybody BUT the murderer gets punished instead!” “NO!!! Please, just let me out of here!” “Akiko-chan!” Akiko ran up to MonoNeko and began shaking him, her tears flowing from her eyes. “Please, let me go! Please! PLEASE! I have to get home! I want to see my papa...I want to see my mama!” “Hey…” “PLEASE! PLEASE!” “No…” “NO, PLEASE, RECONSIDER, PLEASE, I DON’T WANT TO DI-” “NO TOUCHING THE CHAIRMAN!”

“...Eh?” Akiko looked down at her chest. “Wha...huh?...I...I’m...It’s...da-” Before she could finish, several more blades pierced her heart and forehead. MonoNeko wove his hand back as the blades were pulled out of Akiko. As she fell to the ground, everybody remained silent until Tsukiko screamed. “KYAAAA!!!!” “WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT?!” “BLEGH!” “DARLING, I’M SCARED!” “It’s alright my sweet, I got you!” “Everyone, Haru and Maria fainted!” “You…” Ryuuji said, gripping his blade. “Do you wish to join her right nya in hell?” MonoNeko said, staring Ryuuji down. Yamato, who had helped Daisuke back on his feet, ran alongside him to Ryuuji and pulled him back as Gendou and Kouta picked up Haru and Maria respectively. “That...that wasn’t a special effect…” Tsukiko said, crying into her hat. “MonoNeko...any relation to ‘Enoshima Junko?’” “Eh? Who? I don’t know who you’re talking about.” “Who is ‘Enoshima Junko,’ Keiji?” “Ah, nobody important. But Lilith, Tomiko, Kaoru, check up on the others, please. Makito, come with me please.” “Ah, sure.”

The two walked up to Akiko’s body. Taking off his coat, Keiji placed it over her body. “Why did you ask me to come with you?” “MonoNeko, do you have a garden or field here?” “Why yes!” Turning to Makito, Keiji had a very distraught look in his eyes. “Makito, I need you to help me bury her and set up a memorial.” “EH?!” “Unless...MonoNeko, you don’t have any objections to that?” “Nya, go right ahead. But remember, you are all here to kill each other...so I see no need to honor your dead! Nyahahaha!” “Why you…” “Calm down Makito...let’s just carry her out of here.” “But-” “Right now is not the best time to fight against MonoNeko.” “Eh?” “Right now, we just need to keep our cool, trust me.” “Keiji, wha-” “C’mon, everybody is still freaking out, we need to stay strong right now.” “Keiji!” Lilith ran up to him. “What are you doing?” “We need to bury Akiko…” “So...she’s really…” “Yeah...tell everybody to gather in the garden in an hour.”

An hour later everybody had gathered in the garden, as Makito and Keiji lowered Akiko’s body into a hole in the dirt. While they covered it up and set a tombstone, everybody remained silent. “Damn it...damn it...damn it…” Daisuke was clenching his fist. “It’s not you fau-” “I know, god da-” Daisuke stopped himself from yelling at Juri. “I shouldn’t have acted like that to her though...If I didn’t, she wouldn’t have panicked, she would’ve had-” “It’s alright Daisuke-kun,” Juri said with tears in her eyes. “Juri-san…” “I...I don’t know why...Why this has to happen…” As the others comforted her, Makito and Lilith noticed Keiji looking at the grave. “Hey, Keiji, about what you said earlier…” “Huh? Sorry, I was just rambling. Don’t pay attention to what I said.” “Okay…” “We’ll go see how the others are doing,” Lilith said as she and Makito walked away.

“Sorry guys...I can’t tell you guys yet...but I swear...I’ll get you all out of here..if it’s the last thing I do.”
