That's not young Kouga, that's Raiga, Kouga and Kaoru's son who first appear in the Hagane no Hoko story published in 2007 by Hobby Japan. Guess that make the story canon now.

GARO is a late night show, where ratings are low, so it's mosly BD and DVD Sales. IIRC, the DVD and BD for Red Requiem sold very well, same goes for Soukoku no maryu
