Hell, not too long ago these Saudis intended to close Masjid al-Nabawi because they felt that it had become and I am not joking when I say this a "Shrine" where Muslims were actually visiting the mosque for the wrong reasons such as to "worship" Muhammad when they should instead be praying to God (or Allah if you prefer).

Quite frankly, the Saudis or at least the ones who seem to be calling the shots have little regard for culture outside of Arabia. Which is surprising since most geek Arabs of my generation seem to love Go Nagai and Grendizer.

Well, the religion was formed there, so their rationale is understandable. But… I guess you're right. But you know what? I think this is one of those circumstances where if we don't find it offensive, then it's fine.
