For me, there are three factors to consider: Build quality, poseability and transformation.

• DX = Build quality and transformation
• Minipla = Poseability and transformation
• Super Robot Chogokin = Poseability and build quality

It all depends on what you want. DX is my choice because they're solid, good quality bots that feel hefty in your hand. I love those clicky joints and how everything snaps together in place. I love the details and paint jobs and the bright colors.

Minipla is good if you want a super-articulated toy that transforms, but I find I get that with Transformers too. DX offers something Transformers, with few exceptions, doesn't: Solid, durable toys with heft and strength.

Be aware that DX's are mighty expensive. A few pointers in my opinion:

1) You might consider the American repacks (not the ones since Operation Overdrive but most of the ones before where they directly imported and just cut down on detail) as they're of decent quality but often they reach comparable prices to the Japanese ones. I'd consider American Megazords for anything pre-Gingaman as anything Japanese before that is crazy expensive. Sometimes you get a good deal for the newer ones like I did with Jungle Fury and Mystic Force.

2) The Korean ones are an option. They're usually inferior to the Japanese models but use the same molds. Electronic toys speak Korean. I hear sometimes they're of comparable quality, like the Gokaiger ones, but STAY AWAY from Gaoranger, which is terrible.

3) Hong Kong (under the name Bandai Asia) versions are direct repacks of the Japanese ones, down to the font. Maybe there are alterations to the noise levels to comply with Hong Kong's strict noise laws. Otherwise, everything, from the Japanese voices, to the text and font of the packaging, is identical to the Japanese ones.

I only have a few DX toys but each of them will stay in my collection for a long time. They're better than anything most toys can put out and worth every cent. I definitely recommend them.
