I'd be down for places like in the cartoon. Also a revamped Contest system. It doesn't have to be the same as in the cartoon, but something that isn't dull as hell...Make contests a full fledged minigame rather than select a move and pray that you somehow get a good rating.

They could have it so that, once beating the Champion, you'll be challenged by a starting trainer from the newest region and, despite having a better team, you still end up losing.
