What do you mean you don't understand the need for her to disguise herself? She's a treasure hunter who fights off ancient evils who, unlike Indy, isn't keen on just shooting her enemies in the face. She needs a way to hide, and a secret identity is just the ticket.

As for why they didn't help, remember that it was explained that Dash placed Daring on a pedestal so high that she doubted her own ability to perform.
