But wow, that second half. Multiple plots and story threads tying together, all to get resolved in the course of 2 episodes and give the viewer the middle finger for getting invested. It was so infuriating that I had to stop watching DT for a week during my re-watch of the series
Easily the most baffling thing about the entire mess is Trent. Even if you ignore all the interesting stuff they establish and then forget about, what was the editorial decision behind him?
"So in the sentai, the sixth Ranger joins the team fairly late and is largely a villain."
"Well that is no good, we need him in early for toys sake and then we could make the footage of him evil like...a clone or something."
"Okay, and so what, shoot more scenes of him hanging out with the group at the cafe?"
"What? No, why'd we do that?"
"I dunno, just thought it'd be better for the character. We're at least going to shoot new fights to show him fighting as a member of the team though, right?"
"Huh? Why?"
"No reason!"
TL;DR. Why bring a character in early and then not actually have him in the show to then go on and cause all sorts of problems for yourself later down the line in the only clone saga to make children cry that didn't include Spider-Men or Jedi?
