Best New-to-You Show of 2013: Ultraman Max

Best Rewatch of 2013: Technically haven't finished it yet, but still Kuuga

Best Movie of 2013: Garo: Blue Cry of the Demon Dragon

Best Male Lead Character: I've gone on record with it before and I'll say it again: Haruto Soma is one of my favorite main Riders ever.

Best Female Lead Character: Jabi, who finally got to headline her own movie this year in the Tougen Flute.

Best Male Supporting Character: I may have dropped the show, but I still have to give the nod to Nossan from Kyoryuger (you could probably argue that a main member of a Sentai team is a leading character by definition, but it's "Daigo Sentai Kyoryuger: Starring Daigo;" every other character is supporting by default).

Best Female Supporting Character: Mayu from Wizard. A female Rider? On the show? Who doesn't die?

Best Actor: Shunya Shiraisi, who gave a really subtle and understated (and under-appreciated) performance as Haruto.

Best Actress: Hiroko Sato in a very complex role on Garo TOWSITD

Biggest Toku Crush of 2013: A very, very close toss-up between Miki Nanri and Yuko Takayama.

Best Villain: Enter. Oh holy crap, Enter.

Best Returning Character: I'm going to cheat and say the entire cast of Hurricanger. I haven't even seen the movie, but the idea behind it and the prescendent it establishes are both fantastic.

Best Suit Actor: Seiji Taikawa (cop-out? probably, but he deserves it)

Best Writer: Gen Urobuchi

Best Director: Keita Amemiya

Best Producer: Naomi Takebe, for guiding Kamen Rider back to a more early Heisei vibe with Gaim

Best Visual Designer: Also Keita Amemiya - really, any year he does something this should be a given.

Best Hero Suit Design: Gou from Shougeki Gouraigan

Best Monster Suit Design: Enter's Dark Buster costume from Go-Busters (honestly, I think this is a really weak category this year, as none of the shows had really impressive monster designs).

Best Weapon: I really love Gai's bow from Garo TOWSITD

Best Vehicle/Mecha: The Watermelon Arms from Gaim is really cool (when it's not rolling around as a giant ball).

Best Fight Scene: The massive brawl in TOWSITD episode 18, even if it was mostly CGI.

Best Dramatic Scene: The short vision of what life could have been if Enhou had lived; Garo TOWSITD

Best Comedic Scene: The Akibarangers recreate Dairanger's opening theme.

Best Song: So Long, the first ending theme for TOWSITD

Best Piece of Merchandise: I kinda didn't get any toku merch this year. Blame Bandai for making all the SIC KTs exclusives.

Biggest Surprise: New Garo series for 2014! And Zero miniseries! And a new movie! And an anime! In general, the transformation of Garo from cool show from 2005 to massive ongoing franchise.

Single Worst Thing in 2013 Tokusatsu: I was tempted to give this to Kyoryuger's unending cacophony of noise, but there really is only one right answer to this. Shunpei. Because Shunpei. Just Shunpei.
