As for a shoulder, what I would do is take a piece of the dry bar soap and just kind of push it into the joint if you can, like just mash it in there. I know it sounds really bizarre and gross and whatnot, but it's dry, and it's bar soap, so all it's going to do is act like lubricant. Move it around easy, don't wrench on it, because there may not be enough coverage.

That's awesome. Never knew about the bar of soap trick. With my balljoints, I generally cut a small, itty-bitty piece of plastic bag and just jam it into the socket and place the ball joint in it so it's not so loose.
