I'm the complete opposite actually XP
I started watching my first Sentai(Shinkenger) because I liked the actor Tori Matsuzaka. I then got into Kamen Rider with Decade both because of it's crossover with Shinkenger but also because Gackt did the theme songs.

I was actually determined never to get into the toys, I'd collected things like MLP and as fast as I became obsessed with it I got over it so I didn't want to waste money. That worked for almost six months before the preorder of Project BM! Kamen Rider Wizard went up and it was such a beautiful figure of my favorite Rider design of all time so I preordered it right away. And now I've fallen too deep in the rabbit hole to get out

And even now I limit what I buy to my favorite characters or favorite designs. Cause in a year I want to be able to look at my collection and enjoy it, not questioning how I could waste my money on it.
