Thanks , I've been working on it ever since episode 12 when we learned about Kaito and Mai's past and each time I see the Sacred Tree in Yggdrasil's base I just keep coming back to it. Besides with how deliberate the pacing is and how almost no scene seems to be filler, it's hard to believe Urobotchi spent a good chunk of time in two episodes dedicated to Kaito and Mai talking about their shared past if it wasn't important to the plot.

I'm really hoping that this will lead to the dancing part of the Beat Riders to be able actually become important to the plot instead of just as a part of the setting. Mai started dancing as a beat rider to try and remind the city of the Summer festival but that will probably be more expanded on during the summer.
