Yes, I definitely want to experience the original. I really like how they portray Akarenger in Gokaiger; he has this powerful, authoritative air about him, even though his costume was designed 35 years ago! haha I plan to chip away at the old shows in between watching the newer shows.

I'm not quite sure why I like it so much. It definitely gets better as it progresses. MMPR season 1 was like my favorite show as a child, so nostalgia was probably a role in my liking the first few episodes, since I already knew these costumes, weapons, "zords", etc. Beyond that, I genuinely think the characters and story are great. (though I haven't seen any Sentai to compare them to besides Gokaiger, which is also fantastic)
The story is really interesting. Especially Burai's. I'm actually movitaved to talk about it, so I'll summarize it below. If you don't mind spoilers, you can read it. If you prefer not to spoil it, feel free to skip it. Typing it out will be a good way to refresh myself on what I've just watched. haha
Also, if you want a taste of the show at its best with minimal spoilers, you can always watch
the fight between Geki and Burai
. There are no subtitles in that video, but they aren't really necessary.
Geki (Red) is the prince of the Yamato Tribe. But when Burai (Green) appears, he reveals that Geki was adopted into the royal family and is, in fact, a son of the Black Knight who tried to overthrow the Yamato Tribe, as well as Burai's younger brother. Burai pretty much grew up in exile, training every day in order to avenge his father. He even stole the Yamato Tribe's greatest treasure, The Dragon Armor, as well as the Dragon Medal (which is why he can transform like the others), swearing to take control of the Yamato Tribe, as well as the world. After following Zyuranger through a 170 million-year hibernation, Burai is informed by Clotho, the Goddess of Life that he was crushed to death by an earthquake while in stasis, and that she revived him at the request of DaiZyuJin (Megazord). His restored life will only last until Clotho's magic Green Candle burns out. Clotho also gives him the Zyusouken (Dragon Dagger) that can be used to summon Dragon Caesar (Dragonzord), as well as to travel to the Timeless Room. The Green Candle will not burn when Burai is in the Timeless Room, so he can preserve his life by isolating himself there. After being converted to good, Burai knows that Geki wants to live with him as family, and decides not to burden him with the knowledge of his impending death. Burai appears only when Zyuranger are in trouble, and quickly vanishes without explanation once the danger has passed. The dynamic between the brothers keeps the show pretty interesting, if you ask me. (If any of this is wrong, someone can correct me, but that's pertty much the gist of it.)
TLDR:
"GEKI!"
"BURAI!"

That's very useful information, thank you!
And thanks again, everyone, for your input! This thread has been a big help.
