Ok, I've been on this site for quite some time now and I've noticed a theme going on with both tokusatsu and other forms of media.

Has anyone ever taken the time to look around and notice a lot of female characters are disliked or outright hated? Granted a few of them are bratty/stupid/foolish as are some male characters. This isn't meant to white knight but I did want to bring this up as I notice the issue of "Female character doing something people dislike" coming up from time to time.

My guess is that since a good number of writers are male they don't really understand a female mindset so they go with broad strokes with charactzation, which sees some success or criticism depending on how the character(s) are written.

What are your thoughts on this and how can it be fixed according to you?
