I only couldn't get invested in the characters because a) pretty much all of them were assholes b) they were never properly defined c) there was just this huge disconnect between Rider and character.

Episode, after episode, would open with Takkun getting his ass beaten by some villain or him taking down a villain or whatever but then the credits would roll and we'd see him sat about, maybe eating some food and the action wont even be referenced ever again, even when Major villains like Mr J got taken down, as soon as he died he was never mentioned ever again.

Plus, with the way they only ever bookended the action any way, you could literally cut out the Faiz part of the show and it wont have any impact at all, which is kinda problematic in a show called Faiz...

Personally up until Delta's introduction I thought Faiz had fantastic action. Axel's super speed bursts were fantastically realised, Auto Vajin is epic, the special effects were surprisingly high quality when you compare it to the atrocious special effects in Blade which came immediately after this and I felt the show did lots of interesting things in the way it used both the monsters and the Riders. But why should I care about any of this if it never feels like a part of the wider show?
