I've seen nothing to confirm or deny it either way though. But with the speed at which they've blazed through the tournament it really could come down to that.

Or we can find out that Reiji is from space where mobile suits are real and the Gunpla Battles train you to become pilots for space combat and then they pull an Akibaranger S2 on us and have an epic space battle at the sun! Speculation
