Let's be honest, sub-only people can be pretty arrogant and irrational sometimes. Subs aren't automatically better. If there is a dub that is easily accessible (often there isn't) and voice cast is good that is almost always the way I will go. Do you know why? That is the closest a non-Japanese speaker can get to the original vision of the work. These were created to be watched without subtitles, for people who speak Japanese. Anime is such a visual media, some series more than others, and reading text was not part of the creator's intent.
It's not laziness, though I understand people wanting to be able to multitask, it's caring more about the beautiful art and not wanting to miss any of it. I hate that I have rewind sometimes during a sub just to make sure I see everything. It was easier in my teens but it's never ideal. Yes, some dubs have horrible actors and some ruin the dialog buy this isn't 1995. The quality dubs are very common now. Just because you are reading doesn't mean you are getting the best experience. Why do we often end up with multiple translations for different subs?
I'm not going to change any minds but I would hope sub-only people will remember their way isn't the only right way. The best way is obviously to speak Japanese but failing that both are acceptable. Also, the vast majority of the population prefers to watch dubbed products. That helps them sell and gives us better access to the content. Solid dubs being distributed in North America during the late 90's/early 2000's really helped open up a different world for fans like us.
