As a collector of the finer things in life (including plastic molded into the shape of multicoloured spandex wearing warriors), one problem that is going to arise sooner or later comes in the form of scale. This used to not be a problem when Bandai put out 5 inch Power Rangers, but as they moved primarily to 4 inch for their 'Samurai' line, it started getting a bit wonky, to say the least.
Time passed, and eventually I began to accept the new scale. Overall the figures look as good as their older, taller counterparts, plus in some cases had more articulation. By the time 'Megaforce' came around, I was fully embedded with the idea of 4 inch Rangers, and considered buying many of the older same scale figures.
But good things must unfortunately come to an end, and with the news of Bandai going back to 5 inch (with a small handful of minimally-articulated 4 inch male Rangers) came a level of disappointment. Sure I'll pick up a few of them if they ever reach here, but it won't be the same.
So the question I'm putting forward is if anyone can recommend good 4 inch Rangers from previous toylines that look nice and are close in scale to modern figures. From personal experience, the small scale Lost Galaxy and Wind Force figures aren't proper 4 inch, more along 3 1/2 to 3 3/4. They look okay, yet come across as too small when lined up with today's offerings.
Do I take the risk and buy some older figures, or focus my time and effort into customizing modern Rangers into the teams I want?
